Leaves not compartmented, blade with canal
A rather small, tufted plant, with wiry terete stems 15-45 cm high, growing from a dense tuft of rigid leaves. .

Fleurs : d'un jaune roussâtre, en panicule étroite et lâche bien plus longue que les bractées ; périanthe à divisions lancéolées, obtuses ou subaiguës; 6 étamines, à anthères bien plus longues que le filet

Flowers: 6-7 mm diam. in a rather dense cyme with a few erect branches; perianth segments chestnut brown, all equal, lanceolate, blunt or acute, bracts sheathing, acute, shorter than the inflorescence; stamens 6.
Flowering UK: Mid June-late July.
